TUKARAM Tukaram (1608 – c. 1650) was a prominent Marathi Sant and religious poet in the Hindutradition in India..Tukaram was born and lived most of his life in Dehu, a town close to Pune city in Mahārāshtra. Tukaram was initiated without any intermediaries as the other saints usually were.

Tukaram's work is known for informal verses of rapturous abandon in folksy style, composed in vernacular language, in contrast to his predecessors such as Dnyandeva or Namdev known for combining similar depth of thought with a grace of style.

Sant Tukaram Maharaj was a 17th-century Marathi poet and Hindu sant (saint), popularly known as Tuka, Tukobaraya, Tukoba in Maharashtra. He was a Sant of Varkari sampradaya in Maharashtra, India. He was part of the egalitarian, personalized Varkari devotionalism tradition.
